High Street

This sculpture was first placed in a position outside of Boots in 1989. It was removed in 2003 to allow the High Street to be refurbished, including the laying of new Indian granite paving. It was put back into position in 2005.

The sculptor, Carole Vincent from Boscastle, Cornwall specialises in concrete sculptures. She was commissioned by Devon County Council to produce four copies, which can be found in Barnstaple, Torbay, Plymouth and of course, Exeter.

The bronze inscription reads:

88/9 YEAR OF THE PEDESTRIAN
THIS SCULPTURE WAS UNVEILED
